1. APOLOGIES None - all present.
2. TO RECEIVE DECLARATIONS OF MEMBERS INTERESTS
There were none to declare.
3. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
The Chairman asked if everyone had both received and read the minutes of
the last meeting, if so, were they a true record. ALL AGREED. The
minutes were duly signed and dated.
4. MATTERS ARISING FROM THOSE MINUTES
We have received
a reply letter from Dorset County Council regarding the vehicle obstructing
the footpath at Simene Close. We will monitor the situation and report
back at next meeting as this is still happening.
Regarding the dog barking excessively, the Dog Warden has sent a letter to the
owners. However, this is still happening to an excessive level so Clerk
to inform Dog Warden again.
Seagulls nesting on Magna property - a letter has been sent to Magna as well
as an article being put in the June Newsletter. A Magna resident is still
feeding the seagulls so Clerk to send another letter to Magna.
The question was raised as to the limit of bin bags that one household can put
out - there is no limit.
5. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION:
a) Badgers have been causing a nuisance in gardens etc. It was suggested
that creasote put on the ground may prevent them.
b) Gully on corner of Allington Gardens keeps getting blocked. To monitor.
c) A house in West Road is up for sale with Alder King. However the outside
flower borders are covering pavement and pedestrians are having to walk
in road. Clerk to inform Highways.
d) On approach to Colfox School one traffic light at crossing is obscured by
hedge. Clerk to inform Highways.
e) Weeds beconing an issue in and around Cherry Tee again, as well broken fences,
general damage etc. Clerk to request a meeting between Magna and Chairman
Phil Lathey on site to identify problem areas.
f) West Dorset District Council needs to be reminded about the empty property
in Cherry Tree which is slowly becoming an eyesore.
6. FINANCE REPORT
The account balance was read out to Councillors and as usual all books
were on the table for any member of the public to read. a) The balance
of the ordinary account now stands at £12,993.90. The savings
at £8,223.62.
Money paid into the account since the last meeting is £6.98 Interest
into the ordinary account. Also cheques signed at previous meeting have
come out of account. Any cheques signed tonight will also come out of
ordinary account.
b) The following cheques were authorised by the council: Clerk's wages (for
past month) £188, Viking payment of £181.48 (to be paid by BACS)
c) External Audit was read out to all and signed.
7. PLANNING APPLICATIONS
1/W/07/000746 - Lower Pymore Farm (new bridge) - we have received a letter to
say that prior approval is not needed for this and therefore the work can go
ahead. We have also received a letter from a concerned resident about this proposed
work. However, there is little we can now do about it. Also future development
south of Pymore Mills is unlikely as it is not within the development boundary.
TP/07/00119 - Hazel Lodge, 17 West Mead - This has been granted.
8. ADOPT NEW CODE OF CONDUCT
All Councillors have received a new Code of Conduct therefore the
council has agreed to adopt this new Code and all forms were duly signed.
9. CONNECTING DORSET
Connecting Dorset is a countrywide initiative to connect all Dorset
Parish and Town Councils to broadband. This will mean a new computer,
printer and broadband connection will be available to us for free! As
the Clerk already has these items, the Chairman has agreed to have them
at his own residence. Therefore the form was duly filled in and will
be sent off.
10. CHERRY TREE PLAY AREA REPORT
Mr McAlister informed all is fine and looking nice. Still well used.
11. WOODLAND TRUST PLAY AREA
Mr Bowditch said all was fine apart from tractors clearing the lane.
